Content and learning outcomes

• Introduces core principles of supply chain management in the context of food systems, from producers through to retailers and consumers.
• Explores how to design and manage efficient, resilient, and sustainable food supply chains, including logistics, sourcing, inventory, and quality management.
• Examines the role of innovation and technologies (e.g., traceability, digital tools) in improving transparency, performance, and value across supply chains.
• Develops practical skills in analysing real-world supply chain challenges and aligning decisions with organisational strategy and sustainability goals. 
• Applies learning through a project-based assessment, where students design and justify a sustainable food supply chain, considering trade-offs and global goals.

Learning and teaching

Teaching and learning methods will include a mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities including webinars, meetings, lectures, readings, tasks and activities alongside independent study and tutor support.
